About Me

Hi there and welcome to my site, Big Flounder Outdoors.  My name is Jameson and I’m glad you’ve found your way here.  I’ve been fishing for as long as I can remember and fishing from a kayak since 2011.  I grew up in southern Wisconsin and my boyhood memories are filled with the times that my grandparents took my younger brother and I fishing.  Whether it was driving to the local river to catch bullheads with a worm and bobber or week long trips to Canada to cast crank baits for Northern Pike, those memories are precious to me and the basis for my love of fishing.  Trips to visit our father in Missouri (our parents were divorced) and time spent on his local farm ponds chasing largemouth bass encouraged me to focus on bass fishing for many years.  Then around 2008 or so, for some reason, I lost interest in fishing and did very little (if any) of it.  That is, until 2011 when my wife and I purchased kayaks.  On our first outing, I caught a few small bass and it didn’t take long for me fall in love with fishing from a kayak.  I once again was excited to cast a line in search of lunkers on a small lake or river.  I had many adventures with that first kayak in the short time I owned it.  Duck hunting, bowfishing and of course a lot of bass fishing took place and still do to this day, no matter what kayak I’m paddling.  In early 2014 I was honored to be added to the Wildcat Creek Outfitters’ Kayak Fishing Team and later in the year I was chosen to join the teams of Jackson Kayak, Bending Branches Paddles, YakAngler.com and Orion Coolers. All of these are great companies that I am humbled to represent. Be sure to check them out and if you have any questions about the sport of kayak fishing, please don’t hesitate to shoot me an e-mail at bigflounderoutdoors at gmail dot com. Tight lines and safe paddling!
